Ask About Gifted and Talented Programs

Starting in the 2008-09 school year, we are inviting you to ask us about New York City schools and your child's education. We will post the answers online so that you and other New Yorkers can learn more about our public schools.

From October 23 to November 5, Anna Commitante, Director of English Language Arts, Social Studies and Gifted &Talented programs, will answer your questions about gifted and talented programs. She works with her staff from the three offices to develop resources and materials and provides professional development to teachers in NYC to improve instruction.

Over the last 22 years, Anna Commitante has served as a teacher of gifted and talented students, literacy staff developer, assistant principal, principal, and as Executive Director of City Hall Academy prior to her current position.  Anna received both her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and her Masters Degree from Hunter College, and then received her certification in Curriculum and Supervision at City College.

Most recently, Anna Commitante has worked on the development and support of gifted and talented programs, enrichment programs and the new NYCDOE Social Studies Core Curriculum K-8.
