East Village Community School is located in Manhattan's East Village at 610 E. 12th Street between Avenues B and C. The school is situated in a racially and economically diverse community. Students from all parts of District One as well as other parts of the city attend. Over the past seven years the East Village community has had major demographic shifts and has become more gentrified. The neighborhood is a mosaic of residences, stores, galleries, shelters, churches, projects, flower shops, restaurants, theaters, gardens and parks. The school is committed to creating a community of learners within and outside of the building walls and it uses the City as an extension of the classroom
