Classroom Maintenance

  • Custodial staff are instructed to maintain a clean and safe environment for all community members. That DOES NOT MEAN it is their job to clean up. Faculty members will enlist the help of student in maintaining neat and clean classrooms. Feel free to use classroom rules to help ensure this is happening in every class. All faculty members are expected to enforce school/DOE rules regarding graffiti, respect for property, and recycling.
  • Faculty members will be provided with some classroom materials at the beginning of every school year. When possible, additional materials will be made available in the office and can be specifically requested by submitting supply request forms to the main office.  Once approved, the office will provide assistance with using the shopdoe system.
  • If repairs are needed in your classroom, please send an email to the office with the details of the problem. Issues will be taken care of as quickly as possible.
  • In accordance with the teaching philosophy of our mission and vision, classrooms should be organized to facilitate student collaboration and activities. In addition, please post student work, including rubrics, the essential questions for your courses, and other relevant images to create a fruitful learning environment.
  • Clearly posted in the classroom should be the daily agenda, including a “warm-up” activity (we will dispense with the term “do now”) that students can immediately engage in upon arrival in your class. The learning objective for the lesson should also be clearly posted. Faculty members will have lesson plans with them when teaching.
