7th and 8th Grade Science with Ms. Dole

About Ms. Dole:

Ms. Dole's strong interest in science started in 4th grade when her teacher had her participate in a classroom Crime Scene Investigation. It was so exciting to use the evidence to solve the mystery. Ever since then, Ms. Dole has enjoyed science fair projects and in college, traveling around the world to investigate the science of the earth: Geology. She majored in Geology at Amherst College and joined the New York City Teaching Fellows in 2004 as a member of their Science Cohort. She earned her Masters of Science in Teaching from Pace University by taking night classes. During the day, she taught at the School for Democracy and Leadership in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

After six years of middle school science teaching in Brooklyn, she joins us at RSA as the 7th and 8th Grade Science Teacher. Aside from teaching, she loves running and traveling. She's run the NYC marathon three times and traveled around the world to places such as Ecuador, St. Lucia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Ireland, France, and South Africa.

Ms. Dole's Science Mission:

In Classroom 405, we are passionate about doing science. Science is about more than just reading a textbook and cramming for a test! Science is hands-on. Students will use tools and equipment to test science theories for themselves. Students in 405 spend the first 1/3 of the year investigating Physical Science, the second 1/3 of the year investigating Life Science, and wrap up the year focused on Earth Science. Somehow, in the midst of it all, students will work on their Science Fair Projects!
