Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular Activities

There are many activities in which youngsters can become involved. All of the activities are advised by faculty members. To list a few, we offer:

After-School Tutoring: MCSM sponsors tutoring after school throughout the school year. An information sheet is given to students at the beginning of each term.

Athletics: We have several sports teams-basketball(boys and girls), volleyball(boys and girls), track and field(boys and girls), handball, softball, baseball, football, and tennis, gymnastics, cheerleading. Refer to www.psal.org for eligibility requirements.

College Now Program: Juniors and Seniors who meet the academic criteria are able to take college level courses either at MCSM or at City College in a variety of subjects. Students can receive college credit upon successful completion of course requirements and/or exams.

Dance: ABT-American Ballet Theatre (Make A Ballet)

National Honor Society: Open to students in grades 11 and 12. Students must be in the top 15% of their class to be eligible to apply. They must present evidence of community service and leadership to be accepted.

Special Scholars Program: Mt. Sinai Scholars and GE Scholars are special mentoring and internships experiences for upper class students. Excellent grades and recommendations are needed to obtain membership in these programs.

Student Government: Students are elected by students to represent the student point of view in school decision- making. These youngsters also represent the school at various government/leadership activities in the city. In addition, the student government is the approving body for the social extracurricular activities that take place in the school. This group meets on a regular basis and can be called upon to render services, as student representatives, at school events.
