Welcome to The High School for Math, Science and Engineering (HSMSE) at The City College of New York. HSMSE is committed to producing inquisitive learners who develop college ready skills in math, science, and engineering. Our foundations in the humanities are equally strong.
HSMSE, one of New York’s premier specialized high schools, was founded in the spring of 2002 as a joint initiative of New York City Schools’ Chancellor Harold O. Levy, and Dr. Mathew Goldstein, the Chancellor of The City University of New York. Randy Asher was the school’s founding Principal; William Dugan took over in 2006. I became the Principal of HSMSE in November 2011.
In April of 2012, HSMSE was recognized by The New York Times as the most diverse school in NYC. Diversity is our strength, but unity is our power. We bring together students from all over the world and from all the five boroughs. We are a school of dedicated teachers, who work with extraordinary students, who go on to do extra-ordinary things.
After celebrating our 10th year anniversary, we are more committed than ever to improving our academic standards as we prepare our students to successfully take on the challenges of the 21st century.
I welcome you to our newly designed website and I encourage you to explore some of the features of HSMSE.
