Our Mission

Public School 173 is a community of parents, teachers, support staff, and students focused on high academic standards and civic responsibility. We empower all our students, including those with special needs and those who are second language learners, to strive for excellence in academics, to show respect and compassion for one another, and to value their own strengths and abilities. The academic instruction for all students is standards based taught through a variety of learning modalities. Through collaborative efforts among teachers, staff developers, and administrators, the core curriculum of language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science is developed and implemented. Along with programs such as music, art, dance, computer technology, and physical education, the students of P.S. 173 are provided with the tools to become lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and civic minded citizens.
