The mission of P.S./M.S. 29 is to create a developmentally appropriate model of education, reflecting current practices and research and integrating them into a nurturing environment. In encompassing district educational goals, all children will not only acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, but also the values that foster lifelong learning and productive citizenship for a changing world. To achieve this objective, the P.S./M.S. 29's staff fosters high expectations, encourages critical thinking, provides for active learning and employs a variety of instructional approaches and teaching materials. The school's instructional methodology includes a literature based reading program from Prekindergarten to 8th grade, school wide writing process, and a hands-on science and mathematics program. We strongly believe that until and unless there is a unity of purpose and direction among parents and staff, the true potential of a child will not be realized.
