Our Mission

"We Will Make A Difference!"  Our mission here at The Abram Stevens Hewitt School PS 130, in cooperation with family, community and peers, is to "Make a Difference" by helping our students to develop a deep sense of self-worth; and an optimistic view of their future which will prepare them to become leaders of tomorrow.   As a community that comprises a diverse ethnicity and social-economic status, our positive expectations and interventions are geared towards educating our youth and preparing them to be sufficiently equipped to enter into the world of adulthood.  In order to succeed in this mission, we know that we must "give them a lamp, help them 'light' it, and keep it lit."  Our students will leave PS 130 with a sense of responsibility, respect, independence, courage and confidence in their selves that will ultimately enable them to continue to be creative in their abilities, and to continue to achieve academic success, by having been involved in a diverse and enriched curriculum.
