Our Mission

Bronx Academy High School opened in September of 2003 to provide the students of the Bronx with an alternative to traditional large, impersonal zoned high schools. The Academy consists of two sites- a main building and an annex. The main building serves students who have earned at least 20 credits and have passed at least two Regents Examinations. The annex serves students with less than 20 credits or those who have not passed any Regents Examinations. Both sites offer rigorous academic curricula in an environment that is both nurturing and supportive. The faculty and staff of Bronx Academy work with students to overcome all obstacles to graduation.

In keeping with our commitment to cultivate students who are articulate, active members of their community, we have paired with several community organizations to improve the quality of life in the South Bronx. Some of our students are members of the Ranger Conservation Corps, an organization dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of Crotona Park. Other students are engaged in monitoring water quality and gardening at both Drew Gardens and the Bronx Botanical Gardens. Through our association with an organization called Rock the Boat, students from the annex have the opportunity to build and repair boats on the nearby Bronx River.
