Overview

The Urban Science Academy is a middle school serving the Concourse, Melrose, and Morrisania neighborhoods of the South Bronx with instruction in grades 6 through 8.  The school has an enrollment of approximately 450 students.

The school was formed when the former CJHS 145 was broken down into three smaller schools in 2004.  The original mission of the Urban Science Academy was to educate students on improving their community through science, however the focus has shifted to building academic excellence across all subjects. Activities now include expanding arts and athletic programs, as well as expanded literacy enrichment and technology initiatives.
