www.BETAC.org    BETAC stands for Bilingual Education Technical Assistance Center. These center are used to help with Bilingual Education and ESL. 

www.Everythingesl.net  This is a webpage designed for ESL teachers and mainstream teachers alike.  It gives great ideas about sheltering content courses, making coursework accessible for the ELL students, and how to differentiate instruction for ELLs.  Click on 'Teaching Tips' for lots of great tips and techniques!

http://www.eslcafe.com/  This is a great website that has tons of resources for teachers and students.  It is an internationally used website, so it can be particularly useful for our population. 

www.readingrockets.org/teaching/reading101/comprehension This site offers excellent reading comprehension strategies, basic literacy information, and ways to incorporate literacy into your classroom. 


What are all of these acronyms about??

ESL:  English as a Second Language.  This is the subject that we teach to students who are not yet English proficient.

ELL:  English Language Learner.  This is how we label a student who needs ESL services.

NYSESLATNew York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test.  This assessment is given in the spring each year to determine the services needed for each student.
