The vision for P.S. 197 is that all members of the learning community are valued and respected. Students, staff, parents and community members are all integral in the continuum of teaching and learning. The overarching goal of P.S. 197 is to create opportunities and experiences for all learners so that they may become inquisitive and independent problem solvers. Learners acquire the skills of inquiry, independence, collaboration and acceptance as these values are molded consistently. Opportunities for varied and meaningful experiences and conversation are available to all learners. A collaborative spirit exists in which students have meaningful interactions with one another as well as with the teacher. Students develop these skills in hopes that they grow into responsible, respectful members of the world in which they live.
