Monroe Academy of Visual Arts & Design (MAVAD) partners with HealthCorps to bring extended health education to the our school community.

What is HealthCorps?

HealthCorps is non-profit organization founded in 2003 by heart surgeon and TV show host Dr. Mehmet Oz to help students, families and staff at high schools across America take charge of their health.

What does HealthCorps do at MAVAD?

HealthCorps’ main goal is to reduce the high rates of diabetes and obesity in the United States.  HealthCorps at MAVAD offers workshops, clubs, opportunities for student leadership, fitness competitions, and health fairs for the school community.  The main topic areas are nutrition, fitness and emotional wellness.  HealthCorps also works to connect students and families to resources at available to them through community organizations.
