We are a small neighborhood school located in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. We serve students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade in a variety of educational settings, including general education, Collaborative Team Teaching, self-contained special education, in order to meet the needs of all our children. Our standards-based program fosters healthy growth and development for every child. We provide developmentally appropriate experiences through hands-on activities and instructional techniques that address the needs and strengths of each student. Our teachers are committed to the development of the whole child, which includes nurturing the social and emotional needs of our students, their physical health and of course their academic strengths and needs. The Early Childhood classrooms are rich learning environments where children are surrounded by words, images, colors and numbers. Our Upper Grades classes go on fieldtrips regularly to awaken students’ senses as they discover and explore their own neighborhoods and New York City.
We work with every student in order to help them set personal learning goals at the beginning of the year and then track progress throughout the school year. Our experienced supportive services staff offer a wide range of services such as speech, academic intervention services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling and English as a Second Language. Students participate in enrichment activities such arts and crafts, dance, basketball, chess, swimming through YMCA and yoga. Students also have an opportunity to participate in our Early Bird and After School programs through the local YMCA.
