At PS 54 we believe that every child is has gifts and talents. Our job as educators is to uncover these gifts by providing opportunities for children to explore their own interests and discover that learning can be fun and exciting.
We do this by helping every student to create a profile through Renzulli, an online program that captures individual student interests through a survey. Once they create their profiles, students can log onto Renzulli at school or at home where they can participate in educational games and competitions, as well as learn about their favorite subjects in depth and at their individual learning levels.
In addition to Renzulli, we have developed a schoolwide enrichment program. Teachers create specialized classes based on the student surveys such as yoga, weaving, theater, poetry, math games, research and painting. In small groups, students study an enrichment theme and ultimately produce a final project or performance that is presented to the school community.
