FAQ

Is there a dress code at PS 307?
Yes, PS 307 is a uniform school and we ask students come to school dressed in light blue or pink on top, and navy blue bottoms everday.  The following items are not allowed: bandanas, du-rags, caps, see-thru clothing, blouses with spaghetti straps and shirts with inappropriate logos. Pants must be worn with a belt and pulled up to the waistline at all times. Shorts are allowed but must be worn at, or below the knee. Children who dress inappropriately will be sent to the main office to await a change of clothes from their parents.

Can I visit my child's classroom during the school day?
While we welcome and encourage parent involvement, classroom visits during instructional time are not permitted unless the visitor has been given a pass at the security desk.

How can I get in touch with my child's teacher?
Teachers are not able to accept phone calls during instruction time. If you have an emergency message for your child or need to speak with a teacher, please call the school office and one of the secretaries can relay the message to the appropriate person.  Another way for parents or caregivers to communicate with their child's teacher is to send a note asking the teacher to contact them.

How often should I expect a report card or a conference with my child's teacher?
Report cards are distributed and parent-teacher conferences scheduled in November and March of each school year. These conferences give parents an opportunity to discuss their child's report card and any other concerns with the teacher in a private and respectful setting. We try to accomodate parents' busy schedules as best we can by offering afternoon and evening appointments. Report cards are given to students three times a year, November, March and June, in all grades except Pre-K. When necessary, progress reports are included with the report cards.

Are cell phones allowed?
We understand that some parents need to send students to school with cell phones in order to contact them in the afternoon. If students must carry a cell phone with them at school, it must remain turned off and put away during the school day. If you need to contact your child in the event of an emergency, please call the main office and your child will be notified immediately. Other electronic devices and games should be left at home during the school day. The school will not be responsible for lost or stolen electronics.

Is there a lost and found?
The lost and found is located in the main office. Please speak with our school secretary if you need to look for any misplaced items.
