MISSION
P.S. 84, A Magnet School for the Visual Arts, envisions our students becoming lifelong learners. Therefore, our mission is to create a child-centered community in a safe, nurturing environment where all children are respected and in turn, respect the diverse community of which they are a part.
Through a well-rounded standards-based instructional program, with teachers and parents working as a team, with the community assisting with their talents and resources, we strive to meet the social, emotional, and educational needs of all our students.

P.S. 84 has been on the road of excellence with a strong foundation already built. Our goal is to continue building on this foundation not only by implementing the citywide curriculum but by improving student achievement and performance, increasing the rigor, richness, and relevance of the curriculum. We all have to recognize that each student has a unique learning style and will benefit by each teachers use of a variety of methods and strategies to enhance learning. We will promote a learning environment that accommodates and excites all learners, and that teaches children how to learn. At the same time, we will promote a spirit of community, cooperation and interdependence in which every child’s contribution will be recognized, valued and celebrated. We will celebrate the diverse cultures of the community as one and together we will be successful.
