The Arts

Our school is a project arts school. Our students are immersed in all aspects ofthe art including music, drama and dance. We work collaboratively with community based organizations such as; Arts Connection, Mark Morris, and Music on the Brain. These programs expose our students to a wide range of enrichment opportunities that focus on the essence of the arts. For 29 years, Arts Connection has been providing arts instruction to children in the New York City public schools. At P.S. 38 Arts Connection reaches every child from Kindergarten through 5th grade. They are designed to make connections with our social studies and literacy curriculum. Learning in the arts increases a child’s self-esteem and encourages risk-taking. In addition it provides motivation for learning, and develops cooperative learning skills. And it’s a fun way to learn!
