Athletics & Fitness

The mission of the Public Schools Athletic League is to provide opportunities for educating students in physical fitness, character development and socialization skills through an athletic program that fosters teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
The goal of the C.H.A.M.P.S. Middle School Sports & Fitness program is to improve student fitness levels and overall health by increasing opportunities for children to engage in physical activity, regardless of athletic ability. The program promotes health-related fitness through a mix of several after-school and before-school activities including traditional sports, non-traditional sports, and fitness activities. The ultimate goal is for students to grow to be C.H.A.M.P.S. — Cooperative, Healthy, Active, Motivated, Positive Students — for life.

Physical Education

Our physical education program provides students with the opportunities to develop fine motor and gross motor skills. These activities also increase coordination, collaboration and move to provide a healthy spirit of cooperation.

Dodge Y Swim Program

Our  affiliation with the Dodge YMCA Program allows our students to participate in their swim program. Our second grade children attend the swimming classes oncea week. All parents are required to attend orientation before each phase of Swim.

Currently  our children have two swim phases that run through the fall and the spring. A licensed teacher and a paraprofessional, escort our children to all classes via school bus or pubic transportation. Parents are encouraged to support our children on these trips as much as possible.
