FLL Tournament

Jacob Javits Convention Center

What a fun and exciting day. The competition was fierce. The Master Blasters and the Amazon Warriors represented our school well and made us proud. Early in the day the placed as high as 4th in the robot performance competition but our positions were soon challenged by some excellent teams from all over our city. We remained in the top ten (as of the third round--fourth round scores were not posted due to technical difficulties). However, we were unable to place high enough to earn a trophy.

The kids were a little disappointed but like all good champions we have experienced victory as well as defeat.

The important thing is we were brave enough to step into the field of battle and had fun doing so.

We look forward to next year.

Brooklyn Qualifier

What a day! The Master Blasters and the Amazon Warriors had a great time. The Master Blasters placed first in table performance and the Amazon Warriors placed third. There was strong competition from MS821 which placed 2nd on the table. Two of their members are former Amazon Warriors so we were happy they did well. We must commend Master Blaster Syed for having spent so much of his free time programming. Amazon Warrior Abigail and Master Blaster Karen also worked hard programming and researching food preservation and refrigeration. All team members practiced running the table as much as they could in a short time and came through with shining colors. We are extremely proud of both teams.

On a side note we'd like to thank The Lego Rockets from PS5 for their outstanding sportsmanship. In the middle of the competition the Amazon Warriors suffered technical problems when one of the robot's motors seized. The Lego Rockets loan us one of their motors which allowed us to stay in the game. Thank You Rockets!

Jacob Javits Center FLL Competition

The kids did very well at the Javits Center. The Amazon Warriors placed 4th in Robot Performance. They held onto 3rd place all morning but moved to fourth in the afternoon.

The Amazons also placed 4th in the Champions Award.

The Champions award is given to the teams that show proficiency in all aspects of the competition (table performance, technical, judges interview and research project).

The Master Blasters placed 4th in the Judges award (given by interviewing judges for teamwork).

Here's an interesting fact: the Master Blasters' highest score in the Table Performance had them lined up for the 5th place award.

Then their score was tied by another school and the judges had to look at the second highest score. It is there that they were slightly bested and placed 6th.

FLL Brooklyn Qualifier Event

This is PS 94K's second year competing in the FLL challenge and we have started our season well. We competed at the Polytech University FLL Brooklyn Qualifier. The Lego Amazon Warriors placed 1st in robot performance with the Lego Master Blasters joining them with 2nd place in robot performance. All the long hours (coming in early and staying late to practice) paid off in the end. Now we look forward to the Jacob Javits Center FLL tournament.

Jacob Javits Center FLL Tournament

The PS94K Lego Scorpions and Lego Bratz have done us proud. They bravely entered the arena with the top 80 teams in NYC. The competition was fierce and the day was long but that did not stop the Scorpions or Bratz from bringing their A game. We are excited and proud to announce that team 471, the Lego Scorpions won 3rd Place in Robot Design  and team 462, the Lego Bratz won 4th Place in Robot Design. The Lego Bratz also had very strong rounds on the table performance and were in the running for a table award along with the Scorpions.

Very Nice!!!!

It has been a very exciting FLL season. We've learned a lot and lookr forward to next year's FLL challenge. We would like to thank the PTA for all their support of the teams as well as the parents for encouraging their children throughout the season. Many thanks to all the teachers that help support the team during both competitions and thoughout the season.
Most of all we want to thank the students.  Their hard work and commitment have made this PS 94K Robotics season a huge success.
