Seniors Can Apply for Art Scholarships

High school seniors can enter two prestigious art scholarship competitions: the Mark Rothko Scholarship in Memory of Gustave Harrow for Excellence in Art and the Dedalus Foundation Scholarships in the Fine Arts and Art History.

Early Registration for Young Adult Borough Centers

High schools

 

Early registration at Young Adult Borough Centers (YABCs) has begun for the Fall 2008 semester. The YABC program provides students with academic classes up to five evenings a week and support services including counseling, academic tutoring and test preparation, job and career development, and college preparation. At YABC programs with Learning to Work, additional work readiness activities and subsidized internships are available.

 

To be eligible to register in a YABC a student must:

 

  • Be enrolled in a NYC high school
  • Be 17.5 years of age or older
  • Have earned at least 17 credits toward high school graduation
  • Have been in high school for four years or more
  • Be a general education student or receive a determination from the CSE that the YABC program could meet the student’s IEP goals

 

Eligible students should meet with their school counselor to complete registration forms and take them to the YABC they want to attend Monday-Thursday between 5 and 7 p.m. from May 27 through June 16.
