SELECTION CRITERIA for 2007-2008 Teacher Candidates:

 

SELECTION CRITERIA (not listed in any particular order):

The qualified candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

1.incorporate reading and writing strategies in daily routines and classroom instruction of all content area courses

2.design and deliver co-operative learning activities that take place within a variety of student group configurations

3.work within an Advisory structure as a student Advisor. For an understanding of Advisories in secondary schools, read Mark Goldberg or Kathleen Cushman

4.design and deliver units/lessons that integrate technology into the classroom

5.design and deliver units/lessons based upon the creation and administration of formative and summative assessments (for an understanding of formative and summative assessments, visit: http://fcit.usf.edu/assessment/basic/basica.html)

6.design and deliver lessons in the format of the Workshop Model

7.design and deliver project-based learning activities (for an understanding of Project-Based Learning please visit http://virtualschoolhouse.visionlink.org/pbl.htm)

8.integrate a CTE Industry-Specific theme into content courses other than “business”

9.effectively utilize classroom management skills

10.communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, students, community and industry partners, etc.

In addition to an interview with members of the interview committee, teacher candidates must:

  1. present a teaching portfolio with a resume, evidence of philosophy of education, college transcript(s) showing evidence of scholarship in your respective content specialty, evidence of curriculum planning such as a complete course outline and related lesson plans, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing, and any teaching artifacts collected throughout the teaching career that support the candidate’s candidacy. Teaching artifacts may include student work, images of student work and presentations, and curriculum development examples. ***This portfolio will become the property of AOHT
  2. provide professional references
  3. deliver a model lesson to a class of AOHT students that evidences all appropriate and applicable selection criteria
  4. have familiarity with professional literature and best practices in content area
  5. complete a writing sample immediately after the interview

Due to the nature of a Small School, preference will be given to teachers who have more than one classroom teaching license. However, everyone is welcome and invited to apply.
