Liberty Partnership Program

Tabitha Parker-Badmus, Advisor/Coordinator

The Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) was established by Governor Cuomo in 1988 to enable K-12 schools, parents, community based organizations, local governments and business communities throughout New York State to collaborate in providing leadership and resources to ensure that students who are at risk of dropping out of school will achieve academic and personal excellence, graduate from high school and enter post-secondary education or the workforce as highly competent young adults. LPP identifies these students through any number of predictors, which are not limited to academic failure. Some other factors include truancy, discipline programs, teen parenting, substance abuse or negative peer pressure.

The LPP at Medgar Evers College serves four schools in the Central Brooklyn area, Clara Barton being one of them. LPP’s mission is to develop and implement systemic and supportive intervention for these students, such as skills assessment, tutoring, academic, family and personal counseling, special course work and enrichment activities.
