Arts

The Arts Program at P.S. 176 gives students a chance to excel in music, art, and dance. Starting in Kindergarten, students can participate in the string orchestra program. 4th and 5th graders participate in band, and 2nd through 5th grade students make up the Amazing Ovington Otter Chorus.

Our arts program also hosts amazing Winter and Spring concerts, performing for both their fellow students and parents. They also perform shows for our neighbors at the Norwegian Home.

Students work hard all year with Mrs. Thompson, our art teacher, exploring a variety of textures and mediums to create fabulous works of art. In the spring, the students' art work is showcased for parents and the community. Throughout the year, students partake in a variety of art contests and contribute to the neighborhood by decorating shop windows for Halloween.

Annually, students audition for Ballet Tech where they have a chance to take part in a performing dance group. In addition, grades 1-3 show off their amazing skills in our annual Dance Festival.
