We have several programs in place in order to meet and manage both the academic and behavior management needs of our Standard Assessment students.
At PS231, it is our goal to give students the tools they need to effectively manage their own behavior and make positive life choices. We serve both the 12:1:1 and 8:1:1 programs.
Students at all of our sites receive daily point sheets that serve as a means of communication with parents about student behavior on a period by period basis. We have a system, called CHAMPS, in place that rewards student success on those point sheets. Students who earn a given number of points are rewarded weekly with the opportunity to go to different clubs on Friday mornings. Those weekly points are also added up and the overall totals are used to place students on different levels. Each level is rewarded with different prizes and privileges.
