Mathematics Program

       P.S. 247’s mathematics program takes a balanced approach, focusing on what students need to know, and the processes and skills necessary to reason, solve problems, and think critically.

       We have implemented the Everyday Mathematics program in grades PreK-5.  Everyday Mathematics is a researched based curriculum.  This curriculum explores mathematical content beyond basic arithmetic.  Concepts are revisited on a daily basis.  Games are used to reinforce basic skills.

       Students are assessed holistically.  Teachers use a variety of assessment tools and techniques when assessing their students.   This data is used to drive small group instruction. Academic Intervention Specialists use this information to form groups and provide individual instruction.

     Everyday Mathematics is aligned with the NYC and NYS standards.
