INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES

        The department’s mission is to create an educational environment that maintains high standards, assists students who need academic support and addresses their social/emotional development.  Classes are designed to parallel the mainstream curriculum.  Instruction is rigorous as students are responsible to sit for New York State assessment exams.

        We provide the following services:

    § Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) and

         self-contained classes

    § Collaborative Team Teaching classes

    § Transition Linkage Services, including placement in VESID and programs offered at other sites

    § Work/Study Program – 5th year V.A. Hospital Program

         Related services include: adaptive physical education, counseling, bilingual counseling, hearing therapy, occupational therapy, paraprofessional support, physical therapy, and speech/ language therapy.

        Literacy classes are also conducted in standards-based classroom settings in conjunction with the Ramp-Up, Balanced Literacy, and Wilson and Rewards reading methodologies model. Freshmen are scheduled for double periods of English and Math Literacy to support them in these content areas.
