Ext. 310

The New York State Science Standards require that every student satisfactorily complete three years of science, of which two must be Regents courses, one in Living Environment (Biology/Ecology) and one in the Physical Setting (Chemistry, Earth Science or Physics).

At FHHS we have created a three-tier system of science courses that will meet the educational needs of all our students.

    Tier One

For students who want to major in science while in college, or who are contemplating a career in science.

9th Year   Living Environment (Biology/Ecology) and Science Research

10th Year   Chemistry and  Advanced Science Research

11th Year   Physics and AP Courses (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)

12th Year   Science AP Courses along with one of the following:

    Anatomy & Physiology,

Astronomy, Biological Medical Techniques, Emergency Medical Training

Earth Science, Independent Science Research, Marine Biology, Meteorology

    Microbiology and Pathology.

    Tier Two

For students who do not plan to major in science while in college.

    9th Year    Living Environment (Biology/Ecology)

    10th Year      Earth Science

    11th  Year    Astronomy, Meteorology, Oceanography

    12th Year

    Tier Three

To provide students with a sequential program of vocational and academic courses that will prepare them for careers in the health occupations.

    9th Year    Living Environment (Biology/Ecology)

    10th Year    EMT and Chemistry

    11th Year    Bio-Med or Microbiology

12th Year    Hospital Internship, Anatomy & Physiology and/or Pathology
