Murrow High School: Our Vision. Our Mission.

Vision Statement

 We see our school as a community of diverse cultures with high expectations that will work collaboratively to maintain and continually improve in a safe and nurturing environment. Staff, students and parents will support each other to meet these goals. Ultimately our goal is to have our students achieve personal growth and reach their maximum potential as lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Mission Statement

To provide a standards based educational program using a continuum of services available to all students. We plan to reach these goals through collaborative team teaching, professional staff development, early intervention, peer and adult tutoring, student involvement, and technology in a tolerant and open environment.

Special Programs

Science Research Enriched Mathematics, 7 Foreign Languages, Television, Computer Science, Photography, Astronomy, AP courses in History, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Statistics, Foreign Language, Dance, Theater, Art & Music Institute, Behavioral Studies.

Extracurricular Activities

The Theatre Program offers 4 annual major productions. Students participate in Mock Trial, Moot Court, the Intel Science Talent Search, numerous clubs and SING as well as an active Student Government.

For the Fall of 2008, our theatrical productions will be Streetcar Named Desire, which will be presented in the Joseph Papp Theater from November 5-8 and Sweet Charity, which will be presented in the Joseph Anzalone Theater from December 10-13.

Our Community

We had 11 partnerships, including: Brooklyn College, Council Center for Senior Citizens, Friends of Edward R. Murrow H.S., Kingsborough Community College, Department for Aging; and these programs: Cooperative Ed., Junior Achievement, Training OPP, and NYC School Volunteers.
