                                 March Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back!  I hope everyone had a wonderful week off and got to enjoy one of the many family fun events that I found for you.  It is hard to believe that March is here already and warm spring breezes are in the air.  We were very lucky so far and did not have a winter like we have had in the past.  This made for nice weekends for you and your families.

I would like to take this opportunity and thank the parents and family members that came out for my Box Out Bullying parent workshop last month. Our Respect for All Week was full of valuable information for both the students and their families. Everyone received priceless information regarding bullying, cyberbullying, respect and empathy. Hopefully, schools across the nation can continue to offer this vital education to children and parents, and put an end to bullying.

March is a long but busy month.  Our next PA Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 10th at 9:30AM.  Our guest

speaker will be Mr. Rubenstein from Box Out Bullying.  His

workshop was so successful, he agreed to come back to our school and speak to the parents who could not attend last month.

Parent Teacher Conferences are on Tuesday, March 13th. Students

will be dismissed at 12:00 Noon!
The times of the conferences are as follows:

                   Afternoon Session – 1:00PM – 3:00PM

                   Evening Session -     5:30PM – 8:00PM

Parent Teacher Conferences are extremely important. Not only are you going to receive your child’s report card, but with the ELA and Math test approaching, it’s an opportunity for you to discuss the test with your teacher.  For more information on the ELA and Math test please log onto the ARIS Parent Link. You will find tips and other valuable information on the website. If you do not have your temporary password yet, please contact me at (347) 563-4757.  Many of you have not logged onto ARIS. It is important to do so.

During the Parent Teacher Conferences, you will receive a green envelope containing the Learning Environment Survey.  For those of you who are new to the school, the survey is a confidential questionnaire regarding our school environment. You can fill out the survey as you wait to speak to the teacher. There will be members of our Survey Team walking around during the conferences to collect your survey.  Please note that these surveys are extremely important to our school and we need everyone to fill one out.  Completed surveys are due on or before April 5, 2012.  If you cannot complete the survey during the conferences, you can bring it into school and place the survey in the designated boxes in both the annex and main building.

Our annual Bunny Hop takes place on Friday, March 16th

for students in grades Pre-K through Grade 2.  Only P.S. 152 students may attend!  Don’t forget to send in your money to receive your tickets.

To continue with our Respect for All campaign, P.S 152 would like to put together an International Cook Book.  We all come from different backgrounds and a cookbook, using traditional family recipes, is another way for us to come together. Whether you are from Haiti or China, in the end we are all part of the same P.S. 152 community!  Please send in a favorite recipe, including measurements and cooking times.  We will put  this fabulous International Cookbook together and sell as a fundraiser.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

We are happy to announce that our Harmony students were showcased on PBS last week.  If you would like to see what our children are saying about the Harmony program log onto the following link:

Finally, here are some fun activities I researched for you for March.  Enjoy!
