For the fourth year in a row, P.S. 217 has been awarded the Life Learners Grant. P.S. 217 is one of only three elementary schools in the city to be awarded this grant. This grant, obtained and organized by P.S. 217’s social studies teacher Mrs. Rios-Perez, is funded by Metro Life and is run by the New York Historical Society. Fourth graders participate in various workshops given by educators from the New York Historical Society. These educators visit our school with artifacts and documents for hands-on learning. The workshops focus on colonial New York. The 4th grade classes also go on field trips to the New York Historical Society.
