James Madison High School Library

The James Madison High School Library provides services to our students and staff throughout the school day. Students may come to the Library before and after their class schedule or as an option to lunch or to a service period. No special library card is required, however, students must produce a valid program card to enter.

In collaboration with the instructional staff, the Library strives to implement City and State standards for information and technological literacy. Class or group visits and individual research assistance are provided on a continual basis. Students are encouraged to use a variety of research strategies and resources. Additionally, the Library provides materials for the recreational and personal needs for all our patrons. Most materials may be borrowed, students must present their James Madison High School photo identification to borrow library materials.

In addition to our more than 20,000 books, our Library also maintains a large and varied collection of periodical materials, audio-visual materials, instructional CD-ROMs and special reference collections including materials for test preparation, college entrance and pedagogical literature. The availability of Internet access via a high-speed T-3 connection, as well as access to an extensive range of subscription electronic databases, provide our students and staff with cutting-edge research technologies.

It is our goal for students to demonstrate the ability to use our library resources responsibly and independently. It is our hope that students attending James Madison High School become life-long learners.
