Discipline

  • No violence or threat of violence to any members of the SSAT community in any place or at any time (Disputes MUST be settled through mediation) A physical fight will result in an automatic suspension for all parties. A subsequent parent conference is held within five days of the incident. Mediation must occur before students are permitted back into the school.
  • No actions that will endanger the SSAT community or embarrass the SSAT community at LaGuardia Community College, Middle College, City as Schools or any other affiliated institution both in and out of the Board of Education will be tolerated. This pertains to internships sites, arts in residence and community organizations. Inappropriate behavior may lead to a suspension or parent conference.
  • All policies are in effect on trips and during activities.
  • No walkmans, CD players, boom boxes, cellular phones, laser pointers or beepers may be used in the school building. Students using such devices will have them taken and stored. They will be returned to parents or guardians only.
  • No tampering with records, roll books, grades, exams or official papers.
  • Any vandalism to school property will result in a suspension followed by community service or payment of damages.

The following regulations are issued by the NYC Board of Education. All Board policies regarding discipline, suspension, and action by law Enforcement agencies are in effect.

  • No weapons are permitted on school grounds
  • No drugs or alcohol are permitted on or around the school grounds. Confiscation of said substances are subject to action by law enforcement agencies.
  • No theft of property.
  • No visible cell phones, beepers, laser pointers or electronic devices that might prove hazardous to persons in the school are permitted.
