College Programs
College Now: Students in grades 10 through 12 may take College Now courses that are offered after school and are taught by high school faculty members. These elective courses carry high school credit. Doing well in these courses is a pre-requisite for going on to College Connection classes. Registration is done through the College Now coordinator, Samina Najar.
College Connection: Students who have succeeded in a College Now class may register for classes offered by LaGuardia Community College. Successful completion of a class results in both high school and college credit for the student. These courses are offered tuition-free by the college. For more details, consult with Samina Najar.
Upward Bound: This is a federally sponsored program of academic support. It is geared to tenth and eleventh grade students who are from an identified socio-economic group, who might not attend college without academic support, and whose parent or parents have not complete college. Students apply through Liz Madans, our Upward Bound coordinator. The program offers sessions on Saturdays in academics and SAT preparation, as well as a month-long program at Vassar College in the summer. Spaces are limited.
