22Q. Another great year is ahead of us, and I am anxious to begin working
with you and your child/ren.
students at PS 22 may be “Learners Today, but are the Leaders of Tomorrow”.
They will be given the opportunity to be self-assured, enthusiastic and
competent learners in a safe and supportive environment. PS 22 is a place where
all students are expected to succeed, become sensible decision makers and be
responsible members of the community through partnerships with parents and
offers education by highly qualified staff. Students receive an
exceptional education in all curriculum areas. All staff is
involved in continuous professional development to enable us to offer our
students the best education possible. Using a balanced literacy program,
students learn and grow in reading and writing. This year we will
continue as a Teachers College (Colombia Uni.) Project school, which affords us
the expertise of professionally trained literacy staff developers.
Students learn and explore math using the Everyday Math program. All
students in grades K-5 participate in the F.O.S.S. (hands-on) science program
in designated science labs and classrooms. All of our students will be
participating in UBD Fridays (Understanding By Design), a program in which the
children become immersed in the social studies curriculum, across all
curriculum areas on Fridays.
has two mini Science labs, a full technology lab and an art room. We offer
physical education/health classes to all students, as well as a Drama program. All students are well prepared in the arts by
teachers licensed in music, visual arts and dance.

enrichment PS 22 offers a 2nd/3rd and 4th/5th
grade chorus, recorders for grades 3-5, orchestra for grades 4/5, science club,
art club, newspaper club , student government and after school drama club for
grades 4/5. Ballet tech auditions will be offered to students in grades
4-5. Special assemblies and author visits are arranged throughout the
