Message to Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The education of a child is a team effort. When family and school work together to afford the youngster a well-rounded educational program, one that consists of academic challenges, social involvement, emotional experiences, artistic expression, and athletic opportunities, a successful child will, most likely, be the end result. As a school, we work primarily on the academic program, but we are committed to educating the whole child. With your help we look forward to a successful school year.

You will be asked to become involved in the life of our school, and we hope that you have the time to participate. However, "parent involvement" can mean many things-- not just helping in fundraising or attending PTA meetings. The most important aspect of parental involvement is communication. It is essential that you communicate with your child about school. Ask lots of questions and keep asking them even after your child begs you to stop. It is also imperative that you communicate with the staff of the school. Feel free to call the individuals listed below at 969-5510 or e-mail Mr. Pernick at babdell@schools.nyc.gov if you have any concerns or questions.
