From now until March 2, between 8:30 and 10 a.m. on school days, “Applications of Interest for Kindergarten” are being accepted for children who will reach five-years-old by December 31, 2009, at P.S. 46, the Alley Pond School, 64-45 218th Street in Bayside.

Parents may apply to any city Public School as well as to their zoned school, and the application does not guarantee a child’s placement at the school according to a statement issued by Technology Facilitator Janet Elias.

With a panoply of academic, sports and arts programs, P.S. 46 has been praised for “the enrichment the school provides to attract families to it and to motivate students to learn,” by School Chancellor Joel Klein.

The school is hosting an Open House for parents on Tuesday, January 27, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. for parents. It is not necessary to bring your child, but proof-of-age and inoculation records are required for the application process.

Visit the school’s internet portal at http://schools.nyc.gov/SchoolPortals/26/Q046 for more information.
