Was built in 1960 and is bordered by scenic Oakland Lake.

Won a $250,000 grant from the Center for Arts Education.

Is named for the community it serves.

 Is part of the academic circle of Queensborough Community College - Cardozo High School.

Has an enrollment of approximately 780 students from more than 20 countries.

Has a very involved parent body.

Has a dedicated, creative and experienced staff.

Has consistently ranked in the top 20 elementary schools in the city.

Has a keen sense of awareness of community.

Has a commitment to the arts.

Is a home to a special education component referred to as "the unit" .

Believes that school is "4 walls with tomorrow inside".
