It has been an exciting year of learning for our ESL children. Our enthusiastic group of ESL students explored different cultures, experienced holidays, celebrated many authors, and researched the lives of well-known heroes.

Our year started with our multi-cultural unit, in which the students shared their individual cultures and customs. We also experienced and learned about some uniquely American holidays, such as Thanksgiving Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, and Memorial Day. "Authors as Heroes" was a theme throughout the year, and culminated in an Authors Celebration Quilt, in which each student researched and recreated a favorite character on a square of thr quilt. In addition, the children celebrated their own heritage and holiday when they participated in P.S. 203's annual Lunar New Year festival.

Many of our ESL students participated in an after school program speciafically designed to meet their academic needs.
