The Chancellor recognizes that parental leadership is the cornerstone of the public schools. The PTA of P.S. 203 Q is an autonomous and self-governing body. The meaningful participation of its hard-working and dedicated Executive Board Members provides support and resources to P.S. 203 Q for the benefit and educational growth of its students. The PTA of P.S. 203 Q also maintains a cooperative working relationship between the parents and the P.S. 203 Q school staff. Another objective of the PTA of P.S. 203 Q is to provide opportunities and training for parents to participate in school governance and decision-making as well as providing meaningful workshops that support parent involvement in understanding and effectively participating in their child’s education. The PTA of P.S. 203 Q functions in accordance with Chancellor Regulation (CR) A-660 and its adopted set of Bylaws.
All parents (as defined in CR A-660) are encouraged to seek offices of the Executive Board and/or participate on any and all PTA-sponsored activities throughout the school year. PTA-sponsored activities are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, build rapport, discuss current school-related issues and share ideas, concerns, and experiences. Parental involvement also demonstrates the importance of education and encourages all P.S. 203 Q students to perform their very best.
Officers of the Executive Board are elected between the third Wednesday in May and the third Friday in June for a one-year term beginning July 1. The term of office is from July 1st through June 30th.
Regularly scheduled meetings of the Executive Board are held monthly, generally on the 2nd Monday of each month, from September through June. General Membership Meetings are also held monthly, generally on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from September through June.
