Although there has never been a problem at the prom, I don't think that hallwalkers and troublemakers, some who fail every single class on their report card, should be allowed to go. In an effort to improve school tone, especially amongst the senior class, I would like to implement the following rule:
Students (seniors and underclassmen) may not attend the prom if they failed 3 or more classes.
If a MVBHS students fails 3 or more classes, they are most likely a hall walker who has no regard for school or respect for education. The prom is a school activity. If a student, whether he/she is a senior looking to buy a ticket or an underclassmen going as a "date", does not put forth a minimal effort in school, they should not be entitled to participate in the ceremony.
I do not think that you will get much of a fight from parents about this. If a student is failing 3 or more classes, not going to the prom should be the least of their concerns. Students should not be entitled to participate in this ceremony if they are not coming to school to be educated.
What do you think?
