The “Right Choice” program at PS43MS is based on the premise that life is a series of choices. Students make choices every minute of every day. Students are taught what behaviors are expected and are also held accountable if they misbehave or make “wrong Choices”.
Students learn best in an environment that is orderly, safe and secure. Students have the right to know what the limits are on their behavior. Staff has the responsibility of teaching appropriate behavior and of implementing logical consequences for misbehavior.
Toward this end, “Right Choice” is the cornerstone of PS43MS’s character development program. Each morning the principal imparts a daily message that encourages a positive message. Each week, every teacher sets aside time to teach the prescribed lessons which comprise the program. Each month the parents are encouraged to consult the calendar which includes the character focus and suggestions for follow-up at home.
