Welcome to  the Fall Season at PS 51Q

By now, the students have nicely settled into the school routines.  I hope that you have all had the chance to meet with your children's teachers and to visit their classrooms.  If not, there is still time to do so.

We had a great turn out at our Fundations workshop for parents.   On October 23, 2008, we will hold the same workshop for parents who missed the morning session.  It will take place at 6:30 p.m.   "Mommy/Daddy &Me" will be back by popular demand on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 9:00 a.m.  ESL classes for parents will start on October 30th at 8:30 a.m.  If you are interested in any of these programs, you must sign up quickly.

Our new PTA/Title I PAC is off to a good start.  They are currently sponsoring a maraca contest to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.  This is a great opportunity for parents and children to work together on a fun project.  So, go ahead and put your creative caps on!  The PTA/Title I PAC is also sponsoring a Halloween party on Friday, October, 31st, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.  Be sure to check the October Calendar which was sent home to keep abreast of all upcoming activities and workshops at PS 51Q.

We have had a wonderful response from parents who want to donate their time to the school.  So far, parent volunteers have worked in the classrooms, and during breakfast and lunch.  Thank you parents!
