GOALS
MS 202 has set clear goals that drive instruction. Using several
forms of data from ARIS, ACUITY, classroom benchmarks as well as
conferencing, and observations to just name a few. we are able to set
measurable guidelines. We have created a tiered structure of goals that
begin with the schools CEP goals and narrow down to individual student
goals.
CEP Goals: These are school wide 'smart' goals. NOTE: These are measurable and can be assessed with data from the NY State exams.
Goal # 1
Students with Disabilities
To decrease the percentage of level 1 students by 5% and increase the
percentage of level 3 and 4 students by 10% as measured by the NYS ELA exam.
Goal # 2 ELA
To
increase the percentage of of level 3 and level 4 by 12% in ELA and
decrease the percentage of level 1 by 5% in ELA as measured by the NYS
ELA exam by June 2011.
Goal # 3
Math
To increase the percentage of of level 3 and level 4 by 11% in Math and
decrease the percentage of level 1 by 5% in Math as measured by the NYS Math exam by June 2011.
Teacher Goals:
All teaching staff set professional teaching goals. These goals are
based on the Standards for the Teaching Profession (originated in
California). Staff evaluates the areas that they wish to further
develop. In addition, recommendations from observations assist with
this process. Staff professional development and support is then provided.
Professional teaching goals:
* Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning
* Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
* Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
* Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students
* Assessing Student Learning
* Developing as a Professional Educator
Curriculum/Instructional Goals: All instruction is
driven by the NY State learning standards and Common Core State
Standards (in transition). Goals are set for each lesson. This enables
the students to find a purposeful meaning to the lesson.
Individual Student Goals: Once a month all students
set goals for every class. These goals are based on various forms of
assessment. The students exam their progress and note the areas that
they can improve. The goal sheets are then shared with parents and
returned signed. This process occurs every month.
