This section will be updated throughout the school year to answer the questions that many prospective parents are asking?
Are you accepting applications for the 2009 -2010 school year? 
Registration is finished for this school year. The new application process will begin during mid March 2010.

Is Goldie Maple Academy a zoned school?
No, we are an application only school. Applications will be available in the main office and on line. All students are selected through the application process.

What grades are in Goldie Maple Academy?
For the 2010 - 2011 school year we will have prek - eighth grades.

What special classes/programs are offered at Goldie Maple Academy?
Our students have chess, physical education, art, dance, Spanish, technology, instrumental music,cooking, judo, sign language, wrestling, lacrosse,volleyball and drama. Throughout the school year, students participate in a variety of instructional trips related to the Core Knowledge curriculum.

Does my child have to be above grade level to be admitted to Goldie Maple Academy?
No, we are looking for motivated students that have a desire to learn. The child's age must match the corresponding grade.

What will the school use to determine if my child is eligible to attend Goldie Maple Academy?
We look at the child's attendance, behavior and academic records. We also review teacher and parent recommendations.

If my child is not admitted to Goldie Maple Academy can we reapply?
Yes, all parents are encouraged to reapply for the following school year.

If my child is admitted does that mean that his/her sibling is automatically admitted as well?
No, all students must go through the application process. Each individual child's record must stand on its on.

Does Goldie Maple Academy have programs for special needs and gifted students?
Yes, we have three self contained special needs classes and one team teaching class. We also have a gifted class on grades  first - fifth.

Does Goldie Maple Academy have dress down days?
No, Students are expected to be in their uniforms everyday.  Picture Day is the only day students are exempt from this guideline. This policy is also in effect on the student's birthday.

What time is my child permitted to enter the school building?
The breakfast program begins at 7:30 a.m. Students can not enter the building before that time. Instruction begins at 8:00am on Monday - Thursday, Friday all classes begin at 8:40 am.

Are there after school programs for students?
Yes, we have recreational and academic after school programs for students in grades kindergarten -seven. We also house the PAL program which is open to a limited number of students in grades kindergarten -fourth. Fifth -eighth graders are welcome to apply starting in September 2010.

How is transportation for my child decided?
All transportation decisions are based on the Department of Transportation guidelines. Students under the age of five can not travel on Department of Education buses. Parents can read additional information on the DOE transportation website.
