ADVISORY/D.E.A.T.
Advisory is a place where students will find safety in friendship and trust among their peers. Advisors are here to help students with any academic or personal problems both in and out of school, to enforce school policies, to facilitate on-going communication between the student, parents and school, and to assist students with their future planning. Advisory is also where students will D.E.A.T.
“Drop Everything And Tech!”
For 40 minutes per day, students are engaged in activities that integrate the academic and technical career fields in hands-on creative group projects. Under the supervision of their advisor, students apply their knowledge and skills in the research, planning, design, and construction of actual products that they then present to their teachers and peers. These will ultimately lead to culminating student portfolios that are reviewed by the students’ teachers to assess their understanding and progress.
AFTER-SCHOOL AND REGENTS-PREP TUTORING
During the year, teachers will conduct tutoring sessions for specific subjects. Subjects for tutoring include math, science, and reading/writing. There will be a media center open for special research and writing tutoring. Regents prep tutoring exposes students to past Regents Exams and helps students gain important test-taking strategies. Make-up science labs may also be offered during this time. Listen for announcements throughout the year.
