Midori and Friends

Midori and Friends
generously provides us with a jazz residency with drummist and educator Alvin Atkinson.  Through this program, Alvin workshops with the jazz band throughout the year, often bringing in other clinicians to work with specific sections such as brass, reeds, or the rhythm section.  For the past two years, they have also provided clinics for the jazz chorus and jazz lab band.  At the culminating concert in June, the professionals perform as guest artists, and the evening concludes with a jam session that involves everyone - jazz band, jazz chorus, jazz lab band, and the professionals.  When the budget allows, Midori and Friends often provides us with a music and/or equipment.  Donations in the past have included a new tambourine, snare drum, drum heads, brass mutes, and a new case and repairs for our baritone saxophone.
