A Message From Our ESL Teacher    

It is time for the English Second Language students from kindergarten through fifth grade to prepare for the New York State English Second Language Achievement Test or more commonly referred to as the NYSESLAT.

In all groups the children are practicing their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The children work from a workbook. This preparation will help them know what to expect and be ready for the test. The new testing date is early. It will begin on April 6th which is just prior to the Spring break. It will be completed after the break before May 15th. 

Most of the serious testing will be done after the break so the children will have time to practice their writing and reading skills at home during the vacation. If the family is visiting relatives or wherever they may be they will have some work to keep them busy and preparing for the test when they return.

I will send a packet home to complete. Some children have old workbooks that they already took home to practice in. Thank you for your cooperation in this preparation!
