A Message From Our ESL Teacher

Open school night was a success and many thanks to the parents who came by to chat about their child’s progress in ESL. For those families who couldn’t make it and would like to talk about the progress of their child I am present most school days. Just send me a note and make an appointment to discuss any educational issues.

Best wishes for a wonderful Spring! It seems to have finally arrived after a long and dreary winter. Noticing the children are “springing up”. They are getting taller and smarter as the school year comes to a close. Watching the children grow is always a joy.

In the next few weeks after the Spring break it will be the time of year when the English Second Language students take the annual New York State English Second Language Achievement Test - more commonly referred to as the NYSESLAT. The test is divided into the four components of language acquisition: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  All the students have received the practice booklets and must be practicing daily at home for the test! The students need to especially prepare for the writing section which for many of the students is the most difficult and challenging. Good Luck !

To all my ESL students I extend greetings for a successful year and many wonderful memories. Happy Spring!
